UTC and Chatt State

Our ministry at UTC was launched in the Fall of 2007. What started from only a few people the Lord has grown into a ministry of around 200 students with over 15 small group Bible studies.

Connecting the campus to Christ…

…God’s Word, God’s people, God’s world. All we do is focused on growing through God’s Word, experiencing deeper community, and living on mission to spread the Gospel.

Small Group Bible Studies

The Christian life cannot be lived in isolation, so we encourage everyone in Cru to get involved in a small group Bible Study with other men or other women in their same year in school. Small groups meet on different days and times throughout the week and are led by Cru staff and upperclassmen.

Thursday Nights

Thursday nights are like a weekly family reunion with everyone in Cru. It’s a refreshing time to get to know new people, sing worship songs together, and hear a relevant message from God’s Word preached by Cru staff members or local pastors. Come to Derthick 201 at 7:00pm every Thursday for this!

Retreats and Conferences

It’s so good to periodically take time away from campus and class work to just focus on relationships and our walks with God. We annually go on Fall Retreat in late September, ATL Winter Retreat over MLK Weekend, and take a Spring Break trip to Florida.

Next up, Fall Retreat on September 27-29th!

Discipleship

We offer discipleship for students who want to dive deeper into God’s Word and how to practically live out their faith on campus. This looks like meeting regularly with a Bible Study Leader at the UC or the campus Starbucks who can encourage you and provide accountability as you’re following Christ together.

Leadership Experience

There are many opportunities to serve and grow in leadership with Cru! Throughout the year, teams of student leaders are responsible for helping with our Thursday night gatherings, social media, social events and outreaches. Teams are staff-advised and student-led. There are also various missions opportunities that will help you grow as a leader.

FAQs

How do incoming freshmen or transfer students get involved?

There’s many ways to check Cru out or get involved! Come to Benwood on a Thursday night at 7pm during the school year to experience one of our large group gatherings. We always have a “New to Cru” table in the lobby where you can talk to someone to connect more. You can also fill out our Contact Form for someone to reach out to you, or scroll through our staff team below and email someone leading groups for your class in school.

What denomination is Cru?

Cru is an inter-denominational ministry with a focus on helping fulfill the Great Commission. You can read Cru’s Statement of Faith here.

What if I don’t consider myself a Christian?

We would be honored if you wanted to come to a Thursday night meeting, small group, or meet with a Bible Study Leader to process your thoughts on the Gospel. Cru has many people in process and just considering the claims of Christ, and we welcome that!
